SEVEN CHURCHES OF
THE REVELATION
7 or 9 days
At the beginning of this itinerary
you may add two days in Istanbul.
Day 3:
ISTANBUL- IZMIR
Morning flight to Izmir and transfer to your hotel. Visit the Church of St.
Polycarp,
the oldest Church in Izmir, symbolizing the community of the Seven Churches of the
Apocalypse. Drive to Alexander the Great's " Velvet Castle" overlooking the
Izmir bay. Dinner and overnight in Izmir.
Day 4: IZMIR -
PERGAMUM
Visit Pergamum, the Acropolis, the Aesclepion, and the Red Basilica. Then drive to
Akhisar to visit the Church of ancient Thyatira. Return to Izmir for dinner and overnight.
Day 5:
IZMIR - SARDIS PHILADELPHIA - PAMUKKALE
Drive to Sardis, the ancient capital of the
Lydian's and visit the Church of Sardis.
Continue to Alasehir where the ancient Philadelphia Church is located. Walk the streets of
Philadelphia, then proceed to Pamukkale, the white " Cotton Castle " with its
lime cascades. See the ancient city of Hierapolis. The martyrdom of St. Philip the apostle
is here. Enjoy a leisurely bath in the hot spring pool of your hotel. Dinner and overnight
in Pamukkale.
Day 6: PAMUKKALE
- APHRODISIAS - KUSADASI
Morning visit to Eskihisar, ancient Laodicea. Then drive to Aphrodisias, the city of
the Goddess of love, and see the well preserved Stadium, the Temple of Aphrodite, the
Odeon, the Theater, the Agora and the Hadrian Bath. Dinner and overnight in Kusadasi.
Day 7:
KUSADASI - EPHESUS
Full day visit to the remnants of Ephesus, the House of the Virgin Mary, the
Archaeological Museum and the Basilica of Saint John. Dinner and overnight in Kusadasi.
Day 8:
KUSADASI - ISTANBUL
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Istanbul. Dinner at leisure and overnight
in Istanbul.
Day 9: One more day of
sightseeing in Istanbul or transfer to the airport for your flight back home. |
